April 29th, 2008 marked the first installment of TALK20:Athens, which was generously hosted by the Cine Theater on West Hancock street. With the assistance of I.C.E., I brought together ten individuals, each working in creative fields, to present their work and research in TALK20 format. Each presenter was allotted 20 slides in a Powerpoint presentation, with 20 seconds timed for each slide. Each presentation was 400 seconds long. Through this format, these individuals were able to form connections with an audience through their research in a fast-paced structure that eliminated hierarchy, and opened new dialogues between potential collaborators.

Presenters/presentations were as follows:
Joshua Bienko – “Objet Petit a: 2 0 I S B E T T E”
Sophie Howell – “The Functionality of Art as Therapy”
Rob Peterson – “Athanasius Kircher: The Search for a Unified Understanding of the Unseen”
Meredith Bridges – “Baskets to Plastics”
Kate Schoenke – “Chocolates in her Greenhouse”
Darin Beasley – “Ladies and Gentlemen”
Bart Lynch – “Steam Plant”
Sean Mills – “ART X, The Birth of the Multi-Screen”
Jennifer Hartley – “Our Town”
